Name:
Yao Wang
Country of Origin:
China
Age:
27
Affiliation:
Head of the Asian Mafia.
Expertise:
As head of the Mafia, Yao is a strategist. Able to think up a plan for just about anything, he does not make a single move without first calculating all the consequences. He thinks up of the majority of the plans the Mafia goes through, as he knows that the instant they make a mistake, the cops will be that much closer to finding them out…
Yao is also a martial artist. This is because he is Asian. While back in China, his parents had allowed him to get lessons, which were abruptly cut off with their death. However, his skills were fine tuned as he climbed through the ranks of the Mafia.
Outside of the Mafia, Yao works part time at a bookstore, to make ends meet between jobs so that he might support his brothers and sisters.
Personality:
Yao has a very happy, calm disposition. He is nice to the new people and often takes up the role of older brother. He is also polite, always making sure to give others the respect they deserve. He finds family very important, as they are they only thing he really has left.
He also takes up the role as peacekeeper. He often finds himself in the role of middle man in arguments and is usually forced to think up compromises before something gets misconstrued and blown out of proportion.
In other matters, he is serious, straightforward and cold. He knows exactly what he has to do, and sets out to do it with the best plan possible. When dealing with his enemies, he can be cruel, using everything in his power to hurt them before they can hurt him or his family.
Appearance:
Yao has long black hair that he usually pulls back into a ponytail. He has brown eyes and is pretty average height wise. He has one ear pierced with a silver dragon earring in place most of the time.
As for clothing, Yao wears neutral colors—browns, blacks, red. He is most commonly seen in a red and black sleeveless top with black slacks. However, when dealing with not-so-legal matters, he pulls on a traditional white button up shirt with a black suit jacket and matching pants.
Yao keeps both a gun and knife on his person at all times—the knife for close range and the gun for further targets.
Yao is very feminine looking, and can be often mistaken as a girl. Far from being offended, Yao often takes advantage of this fact, as his enemies find him less threatening and underestimate him.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
+ Yao is a quick thinker, always searching for a plan, a way out, a way in, any and all things that require a plan.
+ He also knows martial arts and is therefore very good with hand to hand combat.
+ Yao is also a good actor, this talent having come to him since coming to America. It stems from his need to hide his occupation from his family and coworkers at the bookstore.
+ He is also a pretty good cook for all things Asian. With no money to spend on diners everyday, Yao quickly developed the ability to cook simple meals.
Weaknesses:
- Being a strategist, he is often too busy thinking to act.
- He focuses on plans, and is often making over-the-top plans for simple things, or things that need no plan at all.
- When he begins to really think of plans, his mind often cuts itself off from the world, oblivious to most everything around him.
- Being good at hand to hand combat, Yao is not a particularly good shot, despite carrying a gun with him at all times.

History:
Yao was born and raised in Beijing, China, the oldest of four children. Life was normal--his father worked for the government, his mother a stay at home mom. They were quite well off, so they were able to splurge on little things, such as martial arts lessons, cooking lessons, and other such things. Yao and his siblings had many friends and ambitions and though their life would be just like everyone else's.
They were wrong.
When Yao was 18, he picked up his younger siblings from primary school, only to come home to a horrid sight. Both his parents, murdered. Their bodies mangled and bleeding, their bones broken, their faces that of upmost terror. Yao quickly ushered his brother and sisters out of the house and called the police. Upon arriving at the scene, they had no explanation for their parents untimely death.
Yao suddenly found himself in the role of surrogate parent to his younger siblings. He took up odd jobs to support his family, but it wasn't enough, they were struggling to get enough to eat everyday.
One day, he got an offer to go to America, the land of opportunity. Yao declined, but suddenly, their situation got worse. They had been staying in their parents house after their death, having no place to go. But, with no one paying the mortgage, they were not allowed to reside there anymore. With no place to live and barely enough food, Yao had no choice but to take up the offer to go to America. Smuggled aboard a ship, they sailed to America and was placed in the disease ridden slums of New York.
Yao quickly was able to get a job at a bookstore, his sister at a bakery and opposing shifts so they could watch their younger brother and sister. However, on the way home one day, Yao came across a gang beating up a younger kid. Without a second thought, he rushed in to protect the kid, using the skills he learned in Beijing.
Days later, the gang members showed up again, cornering Yao. They were quick to explain themselves--they were members of the mafia and desperately needed someone with his skills. Yao coldly declined. Days later, he was not able to get off of work on time, and his younger brother and sister were at the slums, alone. When he got back, he found them bloody, bruised and unconscious. Written in blood was a message asking Yao to reconsider, as they would not go so easy on them next time.
Yao had no choice but to agree.
After several years of doing the grunt work, Yao decided if he was trapped, things were going to happen his way. He easily climbed through the ranks, using all his skills and knowledge, until he became the leader.
Sample/Character Introduction:
Yao Wang quickly crawled through the open window. He landed on his tiptoes, to lessen the sound of his feet hitting the wooden floor. He paused, hearing nothing but the usual creaks and groans of a house at night.
He slowly made his way through the house. He couldn't rush things. If he hurried, he would be heard and caught, and the consequences of such a thing would be deadly. So, he took his time, moving one foot at a time through the silent house. Left, right. Another opportunity like this was unlikely to come around a second time. Left, right. He needed to take advantage of this while he still could. Left, right.
He reached the bedroom and paused once more. His hand grasped the cold, metal doorknob and slowly turned it, opening the door a crack, fully expecting a trap, an alarm, something.
Yet, there was nothing.
Biting his lip, he pushed the door open a bit more, just wide enough for him to slip in. Slowly, he released the doorknob and took a step into the room. When still yet nothing happened, he slowly made his way to the bed, taking out the gun from the holster on his side. He placed the barrel of his gun between the eyes of his target and ...paused yet again, looking down at the face of his victim.
Victim. Target. He couldn't think of them as anything else. If he thought of them as human, he wouldn't be able to go through with it. A lesson he had learned early on. He closed his eyes, thinking of the beating he had received for keeping his target alive.
That had been difficult explain to his family.
His family...
That's why he was here. That's why he was standing in from of the sleeping man in front of him, about to pull the trigger. He needed to--he had to do this. He needed to keep his family safe, happy, healthy.
He looked into the face of his victim, took a deep breath and pulled the trigger. The sound echoed in his ears, loudly. He waited one minute, two minutes, three. His target did not move, did not breath. With a crisp nod, he turned heal and walked out of the house.
Yao Wang was officially the leader of the Mafia.
